Meeting room reverberation calculator
Enter the room dimensions and the material of each surface. The tool computes reverberation time with the Sabine formula across six octave bands and shows whether the result sits inside the recommended range. Every absorption coefficient is sourced, listed at the end of the page.
Preliminary calculation using the Sabine formula. It does not replace on-site measurement or an acoustic consultant's work. Absorption coefficients are taken from the sources listed below; each source's test conditions may differ from the real building.

Formula and limits
T = 0.161 × V / A. V is room volume in m³. A is total absorption: each surface area times its absorption coefficient. The tool calculates the UNOCCUPIED room, because the BB93 limits are measured that way and because there is no open source for the absorption area of one person. With people in the room the real reverberation time is lower than shown. The figure compared against the limit is Tmf, the mean of the 500, 1000 and 2000 Hz bands, as BB93 defines it.
Sabine assumes a diffuse field and evenly spread absorption. Above a mean absorption coefficient of 0.3 it drifts, so the tool switches to Eyring and says so. Neither accounts for absorption concentrated on the ceiling while floor, walls and glazing reflect, which is exactly the common Vietnamese meeting room. Read the result as a range, not a single number.
