Start from function, not the picture
A surface that looks good on a moodboard may not survive a 24/7 hotel lobby. Before colour, ask: foot traffic, humidity, light, cleaning frequency. The right material is the one still looking good after 18 months of operation.
Three deciding layers
We read a material in three layers: the surface (scratch and moisture resistance), the core (dimensional stability), and the edge detail. With engineered wood like TABU veneer on MDF, the balance veneer on the back matters as much as the face — it keeps the panel flat.
Get real samples, on site
Screens lie about colour and sheen. We always tell clients to bring real samples to site, under the light they will actually use, at the right time of day. The Terra Nova studio keeps Harbour, Wood-Skin, TABU and finish ranges ready to place side by side and touch.
