Project questions, answered with numbers

The two problems we go deepest on: outdoor shade for coastal hospitality, and workspace for open offices. Each note is a real client question, a short answer, the number that settles it, and the technical pack behind it.

Two AXIOM Tam.Series phonebooths with doors open in an open-plan office, staff stepping out
Workplace

How many phone booths does an office of this size need?

There is no industry standard for the count. Published ratios run from one booth per 10 people to one per 25, where 1:10 comes from booth manufacturers and 1:25 from public agency design standards. Size against the headcount present on a peak day rather than total headcount, because over 40% of staff never use one regularly. And the only study with real data shows placement matters more than the number.

How many dB of sound reduction does a phonebooth need in an open office?

The number to ask for is speech level reduction Ds,A, measured to ISO 23351-1. Not NRC, and not Rw. Class A starts at 30 dB, class B runs from 25 to 30 dB. For everyday calls in an open office, class B is enough. For HR, legal or finance conversations, specify class A. A dB figure without a named standard and a test report number cannot be compared with any other brand figure.

How much wind can your parasol actually take?

The real wind limit of a parasol, taken from the official TUUCI warranty: 25 MPH is 40 km/h. A table by product line, the effect of anchoring, and what the warranty does not cover.

Choosing surface materials for hospitality spaces

A surface that looks right on the moodboard may not survive a hotel lobby running 24/7. Start from performance, not from the picture.
