Danish handwoven rattan since 1942
About Sika Design
Sika-Design began in 1942 in Jutland, Denmark, as a small handweaving workshop under the name Jysk Siv og Halmkunst. In 1951 the company moved to the island of Funen and took the name Sika, a contraction of Siv (reed), Kurve (baskets) and the founder's name Andreasen. Furniture production followed. Alongside its own designs, Sika-Design produces rattan classics by Arne Jacobsen, Nanna & Jørgen Ditzel, Franco Albini & Franca Helg, Viggo Boesen and Tove Kindt-Larsen — the designers who brought reed and rattan into modern design.
