Inspiral
A formed stainless-steel ribbon carrying thousands of cut crystal prisms fixed with minuscule pins. It bends and shapes freely, so it can draw a calligraphic line through a space, including letters and characters. Colour combinations can be changed to shift the mood by time of day.
<h3>The idea</h3><p>Inspiral expresses light moving through space, taking calligraphy as its reference. Curves vary in orientation and depth, producing optically stronger and weaker lines and giving the installation three-dimensional dynamics.</p><h3>Construction</h3><p>Each Inspiral is built from a specially formed stainless-steel ribbon that can be bent and shaped as desired. Thousands of cut crystal prisms are attached to the ribbon with minuscule pins and refract light across the spectrum.</p>
